This beetle has had a frame-off restoration and a rebuilt engine. The body and paint work was finished about 4 years ago and the rest of the car was put together when time allowed. The car has been complete for 2 years now. Everything was kept stock, including the original green exterior and black interior. It has a rebuilt stock 1600cc engine - single carb - No I did not beef the engine up any, it even has the stock vacuum distributor. During the restoration the parts that were replaced include CV-joints, torsion arm bushings and tightened torsion arms (this keeps the rear end from sagging as 90% of aircooled VWs on the road do), ball joints on the front, wheel bearings all the way around, brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders, shocks. The body is sharp but over the last 4 years there is a small area of bubbled up rust in front of the driver's side door where the body shop had welded a new body piece at the bottom of the door pillar and a couple of little ones along bottom edge of driver's side door; there is also a 1" diamater bubble on the front apron just below and to the left of the front hood - I have tried to take close up pictures of these areas. All the rubber seals were installed when I got the body back from the body shop - and yes I did replace ALL the rubber seals; windows, doors, handles, lids you name it it was replaced - even the body to chassis seal is new. The floor pans are very solid, the one on the back right having been replaced.
The headliner is new as are the front seat upholstery. The rear seat upholstery as you can see in the pictures is in great shape along with the carpeting. Front panels are in excellent shape except for a repaired tear inthe passenger onewhich I took a photo of. The rear seat folds down as it is supposed toand comes complete with the strap that holds it in the down position. I had the 3 metal pieces on the dash painted to match the exterior color. I found the best condition stock steering wheel possible. All the buttons and levers were repaired or replaced. I even found a working fresh air fan, the only one I could find works on one of its two speeds - it squeels when its first turned on but for some reason beyond me ifyou leave it on a second then switch off and back on it runs fine with no noise and yes it does get rid of the fogging on my windshield. The heater hoses and levers are all hooked up, including the hoses that take the heat to the windshield. All the lights work, reverse, brake, tail, head, turn signals, and even the brights. The interior light does come on when either door is opened.
The luggage compartment has been fitted with new liner (stuff is expensive too) - not the carpet stuff that flops around but the original board material. The hood is released from a lever in the glove box which by the way is new. The windshield washer fluid is setup, all the tubes are in place and the container holds its air and the sprayer is new and sprays fine; however, because the pressure comes off the spare tire, I do not keep it hooked up - I figure a spare would be more important than a dead bug off my windshield. The tires all match and are recent, I took a picture of the tread. The spare tire has wear on its inside tread because it was once on the front passenger side before I realized that the strut housing was bent causing the camber to be way off on that wheel. That of course has been resolved and the camber is perfectly fine on both front wheels now.
Since its body and paint, I have kept the paint polished and waxed. Since its rebuilt, I have changed the oil and tuned up the engine at recommended intervals. Bottom line is that I invested alot of money and time into this major project and have taken care of it since its completion. It was a fun project and is a solid (probably one of the most solid Super Beetles around) and fun car to drive. I even took it down to Hilltop Motors in Jacksonville, FL whom has specialized in Volkswagens for over 40 years and they test drove it said it was very difficult to get a Super Beetle to drive so straight and solid. I have been averaging about 28 mpg (which saves me about $20 a week compared to driving either my wife's Passat or even my 68 camper). As you can see in the background of my pictures I have a couple of other projects and need the room, thus selling this beetle.
This is a pick up only or buyer is fully responsible for shipping. Cashier's check or money order or cash in person is accepted. I WILL NOT sign the title over or turn the car over to anyone until I have cash in hand or cashier's check in account, I have put too much time and effort into this car to loose it.
