The blade is unsigned,shinogi-zukuri shape, Edo period ca.1650 era made old family blade (seems to be Bizen school sword judging from the temper, forging and tang shape).The blade is inold polish, no rust, showsa few tinyscratcheson surfacebut innear mintcondition.The temper line is big wavygunome temper pattern with nie, kinsuji (crystal) active throughout the blade and haso-maru temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hadaand noforging flaws at all. There is no bend, no nicks, no crack and cutting edge is very sharp. Thescabbardisray-skin coveredwood scabbard, no dent, no crack, notearandalso in goodcondition. Thehandle is tight fit, ray-skin, wire wrapping areno cut, no looseand in good condition.All the metalfittings are cherry-brossom with leaf engraved, with silver katabami (oxzalis) leaf Sakai family mon on top the handle.The blade is tightfit to the scabbard and thelock mechanism worksperfect.It came withgold with red color sword knotshows minor aged wear. The blade measures 26 5/8" tip to the guard, 25 7/8" cutting edge, 1 1/4" width,7mmthickness at the notchand38" in themountings.
